Every two weeks you will receive a directed lesson that provides you with the opportunity to express your creativity to its fullest. You will find that the projects are easy and fun to do, leading you to some very exciting paintings. Through these projects you will completely explore the world of acrylics and its endless possibilities. You will learn about substrates, gels, compatible mediums, color theory, composition and different techniques. Normally we will work on full sheets of watercolor paper or stretched canvas. Each week there will be an ongoing full class critique of the paintings as they progress. Be prepared to have an open mind and look forward to discovery through experimentation. If you truly want to become a better artist, I encourage you to sign up for the entire series, September through December. This way you will achieve the full impact of the class. This is your chance to get instruction in a fun and easy-going atmosphere! Learn traditional and creative watercolor techniques and how to use color (mixing, avoiding "mud", choosing color schemes, correcting mistakes with stainers & blockers, and selecting brands of paint). Here's an evening class designed for you. Students of all levels will enjoy this class focusing on traditional and creative watercolor techniques. Explore color, composition, and the many ways to use watercolor. This is a 6-week course that coincides with the standard Arts Center session schedule. If you are ready to develop your style, or venture in new directions, this class is for you. Lessons are planned for traditional and creative painting, color, and composition in conjunction with daily critiques. Once each year a particular art style or famous artist is studied. The class begins with an informal group critique and the rest of the day is devoted to painting. There is a one hour break for lunch. You will be given lessons to guide you toward exciting, often unusual compositions. Drawing in several ways with a variety of materials - along with painting practice and learning to see in different ways - make this class very unique.
