Its content is determined by you, the student, to meet your interests. Come learn to solder better, set stones, create mechanisms...whatever trouble you want to get into we will investigate. Students are responsible for providing their own tools and materials. Beginning students are encouraged to make pendants and simple chains of their own design in brass and copper wire and sheet. Small projects will help develop skills in sawing, filing, riveting and shaping. The jeweler's torch may be added. Intermediate students will explore new ideas and add to their skills and the complexity of their designs. Teacher supplies brass and copper. If students want to work in silver, they must supply their own. Materials fee: $10 workshopsSensual Jewelry — Fabricating BeadsTom McCarthyS1: Saturday and Sunday, June 21 & 22, 10am to 4pmLevels 2-5Course code 481Learn to construct jewelry-scale forms that are as pleasing to hold as to look at. We will cover fabrication techniques that take you away from flat surfaces. You will be making beads to quickly explore ideas and learn concepts applicable to any scale of work. This will make your jewelry more inviting and visually dynamic. Basic metalsmithing skills required. Materials list available before class |
