With an emphasis on fun, younger artists will learn the basics of drawing and painting while trying out a variety of mediums - colored pencil, acrylics, watercolor, collage and printmaking. We will also explore working in 3-D. Lesson plans are the jumping-off point as each student is encouraged to follow her/his own creative voice.

Beginning Wheel Throwing

Hand-building for Youth

Anime Painting and Drawing

This class offers students an opportunity to explore various drawing and illustration techniques related to the genre of comics, cartooning and graphic novels. Instruction includes perspective techniques, writing for comic strips/graphic novels, and using proper sketching to create a finished cartoon panel. Teen Painting and Drawing on Paper

This class teaches ink drawing and watercolor painting. Students will work two weeks with ink, three weeks with watercolor and the final week with the medium of their choice. Class lessons will develop skills working from direct observation. Some quick sketching will be done in ink; other classes will develop longer poses. This is a good opportunity for students to build their portfolios.

The Art of Japanese Bookbinding: Creating a Journal
