Students pursue independent subject matter with emphasis on self-expression. We stress the development of a cohesive body of work with a focus on formal elements (line, shape, color), principles of design (composition) and concept (the big idea behind your work). Weekly class critiques.

Are you a hoarder of interesting knick-knacks and odds-and-ends that you put aside until the "right moment" presents itself? Now is the time to use your treasure trove. During this course, students use a variety of media to create assemblages combining traditional art materials with found objects. Together we'll have fun turning your junk into beautiful works of art.

Create your own 2 x 3' painted rug! No matter what your artistic ability, you will leave this class with a handsome piece you can enjoy for years to come. Instructor will cover the making of a floorcloth from basic construction to decorative techniques using paints, stencils, stamps or whatever students feel comfortable with. Come prepared to learn and enjoy this fun technique!
