There is an activity that can be taught to people of all ages, and that is Japanese braiding on a disk. In Japan this is an art known as kumihimo. Ribbons and cords can be made by means of interlacing strands. There are many techniques to do that, but the special disk is a key item, regardless of the technique used. Also important is the marudai, or braiding stand Beginners learn how to master level one of difficulty, also known as K1; then there is level two or K2, and the masters of this art are those who have already reached level K3.
