Past Exhbitions -- January 2008Waves of Meaning: Robert Stackhouse & Carol Mickett
Trained as a painter during the heyday of Abstract Expressionism, Robert Stackhouse focuses primarily on sculpture. This exhibition features the collaborative nature of his work with Dr. Carol Mickett, whose own multi-disciplinary work focuses on the relationship between image and language. Stackhouse has described his sculpture as a projection of a painter's notion of space; a consequence of twisting a 2-D plane into three dimensions. Often these artists' themes reference passages, transitions, or journeys. Aside from his archive at the University of South Florida, Stackhouse's work is represented in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Look Who I'm Talking To! Word & Image Middle School ExhibitionWork by Pinellas County middle school students is displayed in this exhibit. The theme of the show -- "Look Who I'm Talking To!" -- challenges students to imagine a telephone conversation they could have with anyone, past or present. |
