Past Exhbitions -- July 2004

Components: 2004 Member's Exhibition

a piece from the exhibition

This annual show reflects the importance of every Arts Center member to the whole organization. The sum of the parts creates a synergy far greater than the individual standing alone. Every member is encouraged to submit one piece for the non-juried show that adheres to a specific dimension, which will then be incorporated into a group installation.

Garden of Dreams: Rachel Simmons & Neverne Covington

a piece by neverne covington

Organic inspirations and printmaking techniques are the common denominators tying two Florida artists together. Rachel Simmons, Assistant Professor of Art at Rollins College in Winter Park, holds an MFA in painting and drawing from Louisiana State University. She arranges her xerographic prints on rice paper in grids to make interesting installations in the gallery space. Local artist Neverne Covington holds a BFA from Eckerd College and uses the mystery and intrigue of nature as inspiration for her technically masterful black and white monotypes.

Artlink

a piece by Rick Rollenhagen

The Artlink Project, begun in 2000 by Creative Clay co-founder Grace-Anne Alfiero, pairs professional local artists with Creative Clay students to produce artistic growth and beautiful creations. This exhibition is the result of the one-on-one instruction the students received from these artists. Since its inception, Artlink exhibitions have been featured all over the county, at venues such as Florida Craftsmen Gallery, the Holocaust Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. Eight artists participate this year, including Frank Strunk, the Oiseaux Sisters, Rick Rollenhagen, and Herb Snitzer.
