Striking images of nature, found objects and historical journals make up this powerful exhibit featuring two top photographers of our day. As they capture moments in time, Rebecca Sexton-Larson and Matt Larson use non-traditional methods including pinhole and toy cameras, image transfers, and painting and drawing to communicate their visions. Ms. Sexton-Larson manipulates pinhole photography and incorporates various mediums, utilizing the written word in combination with photographic images to create a powerful narrative, which examines family structures and relationships. Through use of different tools and methods, Matt Larson, a professional photographer for the past 20 years, utilizes a toy camera, eliminating the ability for technical manipulations. This allows him to pursue pure artistic images and gives his work strong dialogue and raw emotion. Their work can be found in numerous galleries, as well as private and public collections stretching from Palm Beach to New York. Word & Image: Star Spangled Banner
Come see incredible talent from Pinellas County elementary school students as they participate in "The Star Spangled Banner." Promoting music education in the arts, The Arts Center participates in the national program to teach our youth the lyrics to The Star Spangled Banner. Students are encouraged to submit works based upon their ideas of patriotism and translate the words of the famous song into art. Students also incorporate a written artist statement with each piece. Jodi Bove: Class Inspired Glass
During her residency, artist Jodi Bove gathered mythological drawings from children all over the state. These drawings are then transferred and carved into blown glass pieces to create stunning collaborations. Also join us for demonstrations the entire month of December. Call or check our website for a schedule. |
